This workshop provides an overview of the important intersection between business analysis and project management. Because much of the work of the business analyst is performed within projects, it is critical that business analysts have a solid understanding of project processes and project management methods. In addition, because project managers must rely on the skills of the business analyst to ensure project success, it is important that they understand the role of the business analyst and the processes and methods that business analysts will employ in the performance of their jobs.
BAB-606 explores both project management and business analysis with a focus on the role of requirements planning, elicitation, analysis and documentation, communication, and validation in the project management process.
The objectives of this workshop are to:
- Introduce project managers to key business analysis processes and methods so that project managers can make effective use of the talents and skills of their business analysts
- Explore those portions of the project management process that have the most impact on successful requirements planning, documentation, analysis, communication, and validation
- Allow business analysts and project managers to engage in a dialogue designed to increase their ability to work together and to provide clarity on roles, interests, and concerns
- Provide training that is consistent with the BABOK® Guide, Version 2.0 and with the PMBOK® Guide, Fourth Edition
- Allow participants to apply the concepts they have learned to their own work environments through the use of case studies based on existing or potential projects
