This workshop provides an introduction to and overview of the critical skills and competencies of the business analyst and an introduction to enterprise analysis, the pre-project and organizational roles of the business analyst. It provides an understanding of the roles of the business analyst and knowledge of the basic skills used by the business analyst to support the functions of the organization. The material covered in this workshop will provide a solid base for other workshops that describe the role of the business analyst and the methods employed to plan for, elicit, document, analyze, communicate, and verify business requirements.
The objectives of the workshop are to introduce skills, concepts and strategies to:
- Introduce students to the underlying fundamentals of business analysis
- Provide training that is consistent with the BABOK® Guide Version 2.0
- Provide comprehensive coverage of the enterprise analysis components of the BABOK® Guide, and those skill sets regarded as foundational to business analysis
- Prepare participants to participate effectively in a variety of organizational processes that require sound analysis
- Provide participants with an understanding of the various methods and tools used by business analysts to support the organization
- Allow participants to interact with one another and to apply the skills they have learned
- Allow participants to apply the concepts they have learned to their own work environments through the use of case studies based on existing or potential projects
- Provide a base of knowledge for additional business analysis learning, either self-directed or otherwise
This workshop is part of the four-course sequence leading to the Babbage Simmel Business Analysis Certification Program.
This workshop is compliant with the standards for business analysis and requirements definition, the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge Version 2.0. As an IIBA® Endorsed Education Provider (EEP) Charter Member; Babbage Simmel’s IIBA® endorsed courses qualify for CDU credit. 21 Continuing Development Units (CDUs) may be earned by attending this course.
This workshop is also compliant with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (the PMBOK® Guide, Fourth Edition). Those holding the Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification can earn up to 21 Professional Development Units (PDU) for full participation in this workshop.
